Data Collection

Design is a balance between information and imagination.  We start all our projects by learning as much as we can about the site, the program and the client.  This includes compiling information on such things as the existing services and engineering systems, as well as learning about the local ecosystems, the path of the sun, the history of the site, and studying the neighbourhood context.  This research is followed by learning about our Clients' needs and desires.  For every project we create both a functional program and a wish list.  Only after we have all of this information compiled and accessible do we put pen to paper to start speculating on the form of the building.
